What is SPFC?

Single Parents Friendship and Community UK is a UK wide community for single parents to build friendships, reduce loneliness and feel part of a supportive village. We offer online spaces, chats and in person events.
 

Who can join SPFC? 

Single Parents Friendship and Community UK is open to single parents, solo parents and co-parents across the UK. You don't need to be at any particular stage of your journey.

Do I have to attend events?

No. Many members only take part in the online community (Facebook, Whatsapp, Teams). Events are optional and there is no pressure to attend anything.

Is there a cost to join? 

Joining the community is free. Some events may have a cost (eg. venue entry, activities, tickets) but many events are free or low cost. We always aim to keep things as accessible as possible to everyone. As we are a non-profit we run off donations.

I'm nervous about coming to my first event. What support is there?

That is completley normal and is something that we hear a lot. We offer an Event Buddy system where a volunteer member can chat with you beforehand and meet you when you arrive so that you don't have to walk in alone.

Do I have to be active on Facebook?

You are required to be in our Facebook to access our Whatsapp, Teams and Events however you are welcome to be as active or quiet within the Facebook group as you feel is right for you.

Are children included in the community?

Yes. Many of our events are family friendly. We also run some events which are for adults only. We clearly state what each event is suitable for so parents can choose what works best for them.

How do you keep the community safe?

We have:

We work hare to ensure that Single Parents Friendship and Community UK remains a respectful, inclusive and supportive space.

Can I volunteer or help out?

Yes! We regularly look for volunteers! This community wouldn't be able to run without our volunteers who kindly give their time. If you would like to get involved as a chat host, event buddy or even host your own event.
