Make a difference in the SPFC Community
Single Parents Friendship and Community UK is built by people who care about others. Our volunteers help to create the welcoming, supportive environment that makes this community feel like a real village for single parents across the UK.
Volunteering with SPFC can help you build confidence, form friendships and be a part of something meaningful.
Below are some of the ways that you can get involved. If there is anything that catches your eye please contact us via our contact page or Facebook.

Whatsapp Chat Host
Our Whatsapp community is growing quickly and has become a really important part of SPFC helping members connect daily and feel less alone. Because of this growth we're always grateful for friendly volunteers who would like to support hosting these chats. We currently have a wide range of sub-chats covering different topics and locations however you notice a topic not yet covered you are welcome to contact us about setting it up.
Being a chat host includes:
- Welcome new members
- Help guide conversations
- Encourage kindness and inclusion
- Helping ensure chats remain a safe space for all

Teams Support
Our weekly SPFC Teams sessions offer a space for members to connect online. As these sessions continue to grow we are looking for friendly volunteers who would like to help support and occasionally host these calls. Teams Support volunteers help ensure sessions feel welcoming, inclusive and comfortable for everyone, especially new members who may feel nervous about joining.
Being part of Teams Support includes:
- Welcoming new faces to sessions
- Helping conversations flow naturally
- Supporting quieter members to feel included
- Helping maintain a kind and respectful environment

Event Buddies
Event Buddies will play a really important role within SPFC by supporting members who feel nervous about attending their first event. Many people join SPFC feeling anxious or unsure so having a friendly face can make all the difference. Event buddies help create a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment where nobody feels like they are walking in alone. This support often begins before the event and continues on the day helping new members feel comfortable.
Being an Event Buddy includes:
- Chatting with new members before events
- Offering reassurance
- Meeting members on arrival so they aren't walking in alone
- Helping new members settle in and feel included

Event Host
Our vision for SPFC is to have welcoming, inclusive events happening all accross the UK so that no single parent feels alone where they love. Event Hosts play a vital role in helping us make this possible. Event Hosts are volunteers who organise and lead local meet-ups from simple coffe chats and park walks to larger activites. Hosting an event helps create real life connections and gives others the opportunity to build friendships in their area.
Being an Event Host includes:
- Organising local meet ups
- Creating a welcoming atmosphere for attendees
- Communicating with attendees before events
- Helping ensure events follow SPFC guidelines
